Processing Grief - Group Psychotherapy Workshop
One of the things that doesn't get talked about very often in relation to hidden disabilities and chronic conditions is grief. It's normal to grieve for who you might have been without your condition or disability, and for what your life might have been like too. Here you will find a safe to discuss

About the Event
HiD Wellness Workshops
Join us at our informal monthly wellbeing sessions with psychotherapist, Emma Pooley. These are being run once per month on a Friday and are free to attend. There are 12 places per session, you may attend as many as you feel helpful. We are in the process of creating some online sessions to enable more people with accessible issues or too far to travel to be able to access the service. Â
There will be a theme for each session, and opportunities for discussion and creative activities. You can participate as much or as little as feels comfortable, and the number of participants will be capped to no more than 12 per session to give everybody an opportunity to connect and engage with each other.Â
Emma Pooley is a psychotherapist in private practice in Hull, UK. (UKCP Accred., PNCPS Acc.) She describes herself as "professionally nosy", and has a particular interest in working with trauma, relationships and neurodivergence. Emma has a very informal, relaxed style and a genuine friendly warmth and is great at making people feel comfortable, safe, valued and heard.
One of the things that doesn't get talked about very often in relation to hidden disabilities and chronic conditions is grief. It's normal to grieve for who you might have been without your condition or disability, and for what your life might have been like too, and it's sometimes difficult to acknowledge this.
In this workshop, we'll make time and space to share and support each other with our grief. You can share as much or as little as feels comfortable for you; the key is being together without judgment or expectations.
If there is anything you’d like me to be aware of in advance of this session, you are welcome to email me: emma@emmapooleytherapy.com.
There will basically be two different styles of therapy so you can pick which you are most comfortable with.Â
Interactive Sessions - which will have more opportunities for discussion and activities to explore personal experiences
Psychoeducation Sessions - which will focus on tips, tools and techniques for managing a particular issue, and will be more of a "taught" session
